Holiday TOY Gift Guide

Shop local this season!

December 11, 2020

Holiday shopping is in full swing and there's no better time to shop local than right now.  It can be challenging to find everything you're looking for at a small business this season, but that's defiantly not the case when it comes to toys!  Learning Express Toys of Collegeville and Blue Bell are ready, stocked, and waiting to help make your gifting spectacular this year!  In addition to supporting a locally owned business, when you shop at one of these locations, you have the added benefit of knowledgeable employees who can help you choose the perfect gift for every kid on your list. Both locations also offer free curbside pickup, which means you can shop locally and still remain safe- just pop the trunk and take your treasures home! Recently, I stopped by the Collegeville location and was able to get the low-down on 2020's hottest gifts for every age group, let's take a look.

Babies

Babies are sometimes the hardest age group to buy for because they don't generally need much and they definitely don't help out by making a Christmas list!  Some ideas include: bath toys, clothes, mealtime needs like plates, bibs, utensils, teethers.  Many new parents can attest to Sophie La Girafe; what makes her so magical is still a mystery to me, but I've never met a baby whose favorite teether wasn't Sophie; made of all-natural rubber she's a great gift for any new or expecting parent.  When in doubt a book and stuffed animal always make a great gift! Jellycat Plush Animals and matching stories make for a perfect bedtime.

Little Kids

Full of curiosity and wonder it can be challenging to find something just right for this age group.  Some ideas include bubbles (every kid likes bubbles), art supplies, stuffed animals, building sets (MagnaTiles, LEGOS), dolls, trains.  Little imaginations are running at full steam for these little ones.  You may want to consider Melissa and Doug dress-up outfits for magical afternoons of pretend play.  This year, everyone is trying to get their hands on Tonieboxes, they come in a variety of characters and tell your child an engaging story.  Switch out the characters for even more fun!

Bigger Kids

This age group may have handed you a well thought out list, but if you're in need of ideas you may want to consider games.  Board games for family game night, outside games to keep them moving, or educational games to expand their minds- you can't go wrong with a good game.  Don't forget about arts and crafts kits, at-home science experiments, telescopes, and more.  One of the most popular toys of the year is Doodlematic which turns your kid's drawings into video games- how cool is that?! This STEM toy is perfect for fun or even at home learning inspiring hours of entertainment for their imaginations to run wild!

Finally, the #1 Toy of 2020 is.....

SQUISHABLES!

Available in a variety of sizes and styles, there's really one for every child.  These fly off the shelves just as fast as they are restocked, so make sure to grab yours soon!
