I'm sure many of us recognize the name Kathy Romano from the morning talk show Preston & Steve where she has served as the female voice on the popular radio program for the last sixteen years. Today, as part of our nod to Women's History Month, we're spotlighting her career, community influence, and role as a local mompreneur.
Since graduating from West Chester University, Kathy has been a fixture of the Philadelpia area in a variety of ways. Getting her start as traffic reporter on NBC 10, she then moved into local sports- serving as the in-area host for the 76ers and providing pre & post game Eagles coverage on "Roamin with Romano" for Comcast Sportsnet. If you live in or work in the greater Philly area, there's a good chance you've heard Kathy over the last 20 years.
As mentioned, Kathy is currently on morning radio as part of the Preston & Steve show and also hosts her own show "Her Story"- an entertainment style show focusing on women who shape our society (found on 95.7 BEN FM). Additionally, Kathy is the founder of Fresh Smiles Foundation (helping kids join organized activities) and sits on the boards of the Philadelphia Police Foundation and annual fundraiser "Shyamaween" for the M. Night Shyamalan Foundation. It's fair to say Kathy Romano is a woman who likes to stay busy, but we also applaud her service to the community at large.
In 2019, Kathy decided to add one more project to her plate. She started a jewelry line and became an entrepreneur. At the time, her son was just 7 years old; with the launch of the Kathy Romano Collection, she joined the elite group of women known as mompreneurs- women who are rocking it raising both babies and a business. The KR Collection is designed for every day and every occasion. Inspired by her real-life passions of yoga and salsa dancing, it can be dressed up for a night out or down for casual use. According to Kathy “My favorite part of being an entrepreneur is that I can create my own visions. I enjoy every part of designing and assembling jewelry.
