3 Ways to Celebrate Life with Ice Cream

Nothing makes a moment sweeter than ice cream- Handel's Ice Cream of Royersford has your back.

June 25, 2021

Life is full of milestones, both big and little- parents know this better than anyone. There are, of course, big days like graduations and birthdays, baseball wins and dance recitals that are easy to recognize. Then there are smaller, but important days- like the first time they tie their shoes or lose a tooth, finally mastering a tough karate move or acing a math test. Parenting is full of victories to celebrate and like most things- celebrating is just better with ice cream.

Handel's Ice Cream of Royersford is the new, delicious kid in town.  If you haven't been yet, I highly recommend you check it out.  Located on Main Street in Royersford, they are making homemade ice cream fresh- daily in a newly renovated space (formally Nelson's). Husband and wife duo, Maria and Andy Rick opened their doors in early 2020 and have loved meeting many local families since then; "What makes us most happy is when we see smiling faces when they walk in, ice cream really brings the kid out in everyone".  The Ricks are thrilled with their choice of location and look forward to fully immersing themselves in the community. They're already on their way, recently announcing the creation of "Handel's Heroes" a monthly event where one standout community member will be highlighted and sales proceeds from the event will be donated to a local organization! I recently asked them what it was that made them choose Royersford to open up shop, they said:

"Why Royersford? We loved the town, the small feel.  Main Street had the vibe we were looking for when we dreamed of where Handel’s would fit best.  We really wanted to be in a community where there was the ability to walk and where we could become a part of the community and Royersford checked all of those boxes.  The people, the feel and the location are perfect!"

Here are three ways you can easily support a new local business and incorporate ice cream and into your family's next event.  If that isn't a sweet deal, I don't know what is!

1). Stop by your local shop for a cone.  The tasty freeze is a staple of summer for kids and adults alike, I think everyone gets a little excited looking at the flavor board, no matter how old.  Whether you're a cone, cup, or milkshake lover; a frozen treat is an awesome way to acknowledge a job well done.  Luckily for us, Handel's of Royersford is open year-round with indoor service. This means, even if your child gets her braces off in January, fresh, homemade congratulatory ice cream awaits.

2). Ice Cream Pie and Ice Cream Sandwiches for Pick Up or Delivery.
Did you know you can get an ice cream "pie" in lieu of cake for your next celebration? In our family, ice cream reigns supreme, so for my daughter's birthday last year, we did a salted caramel truffle ice cream pie.  It had a graham cracker crust, a layer of fresh caramel sauce, and all the ice cream she could have ever wanted (3 pounds!).  At $25 it's a great big delicious deal.

Ice cream sandwiches are also available in any flavor of your choice (see below for ice cream flavors).  Perfect for a party or to keep in the freezer for an at-home treat.

3). Quarts and Cones to Go.  If you have an upcoming party, why not turn it up a notch with an ice cream sundae bar?  Great addition to your summer BBQs, 4th of July, or even an epic family movie night!  Gather your favorite toppings (sprinkles, whipped cream, chocolate sauce, cherries, etc) and pick up a quart or two of Handel's unique daily flavors.  You can also get cones for an authentic experience at home. It's been a long year, let's make this the best summer yet!

Handel's is unique in that it makes it's 48 ice cream flavors fresh daily. Because of this, flavors will vary in availability, but here is an idea of some scrumptious options:
