We're so excited to celebrate the kickoff of year FIVE with The Dance Effect owner, Angelica Palmer. Five years ago Angelica fulfilled her life long dream of opening a dance studio. She found a space and community in Spring City and dove in head first. Any business owner will tell you- it's not easy, especially in the beginning, but by offering a variety of classes at reasonable rates and pouring her love into each tiny dancer, slowly she was able to build a successful business.
Then came 2020 and all small businesses were challenged in new, unexpected ways. Facing the real possibility of closure, Angelica was able to dig in and pivot. She offered online classes, private group sessions for siblings or those in a "pod", moved summer camp outdoors, and invested in high quality air purifiers to make the studio as safe as possible upon student return. It wasn't easy- but we're so thrilled to see she's come out the other side stronger than ever. Last year, The Dance Effect had big news- the studio had grown too big for it's original location and was able to move to a bigger, newly renovated space! Now, with three dance studios, TDE is able to accommodate even more dancers, offer even more genres, and offer classes at a wide variety of times to fit the schedules of busy families. The new space is warm, inviting, and full of possibilities- just like it's fearless owner. Year five brings new growth and opportunities. The dance family has grown- welcoming not only new teachers, but a new dance baby for Angelica, making her a mom of three!
As a dance mom at TDE it's been an honor to watch this small business not only make it through the tough early years, but truly flourish. When people ask me where my girls take dance I tell them TDE. Often times I'm met with an "where's that?" or "I don't think I know that one" (although it's happening less and less these days!) and I always smile and say "I know, it's a newer studio- we love it." My kids love dancing there and I'm proud to support a fellow mom who's just trying to live her dreams in between school drop off and babies sleeping in an empty classroom.
