Perinatal Resources for Moms

You are not alone

February 3, 2023

Good moms have bad days.  Good moms have bad weeks. And yes, good moms even have scary thoughts.  In fact, research shows, 91% of new moms experience some sort of intrusive or scary thoughts about themselves or their baby in the first year.

As moms, we know how fortunate we are, what a beautiful journey motherhood can be and we're reminded regularly.  However, motherhood is HARD.  Parenting is HARD.  Hormones and crying babies and societal pressure to just "be happy" are HARD and unfair and quite frankly, dangerous.  Because yes, we are fortunate, yes motherhood is a beautiful journey, but not every moment; especially during the postpartum stage (0-12 months after birth).  When moms feel ashamed of their feelings, guilty or scared to share them aloud- whether that be with a partner, friend, or therapist- it can have serious consequences.  So please, be kind to one another.  And if you are struggling, know this- you are not alone.  You are not bad.  There are people ready to listen and ready to help.
