One thing no one tells you before becoming a parent is storytime will soon play a major role in your life, especially if you are the primary caregiver during weekdays. Quite literally, a library with a good storytime was on our wish list when house hunting. Storytimes are not all created equal. Some come with crafts, songs, themes, or educational speakers. So it's important to "shop" around because your basic story reading can get repetitive. All of these are why I'm so very excited to share a brand new storytime event coming to our area. Completely new and not something I've seen offered- a Swim Storytime! Kids First Swim Schools of Plymouth Meeting is partnering with local authors to bring you a whole morning of fun.
First up is 45 minutes of swim. Kids and water are pretty much made for each other, so they'll love splashing and enjoying themselves in the 90 degree pool. Parents will love the indoor pool (no sun screen needed!), structured play, and amount of energy those kiddos use up swimming- just before nap! After everyone dries off, author Wendy Greenley will read her book Lola Shapes the Sky to the group. Kids will love this sweet story about a very artistic cloud who loves to make herself into unique shapes. Copies of the book will be available for purchase and the author will sign them for a keepsake as well. Storytimes are a great place to meet new kids and parents as well- so be sure to chat with friends as you complete the included craft! After the book signing, head home for lunch or out for an afternoon of cloud watching.
If your kids are anything like mine, swimming and stories are both in their top 5 activities which makes it a perfect way to spend a morning with your little one. Swim Storytime is Tuesday, July 25th at 10am. Call 610-729-7946 to reserve your space. There is a cap to ensure everyone's safety in the lifeguarded pool. It's $10 per swimmer- parents are allowed to join their little fishy in the pool. Kids First Plymouth Meeting welcomes kids from infancy on up- all swim levels are encouraged to attend! Keep an eye out because Kids First Plymouth Meeting is planning to offer these special events in the future!
