An ambitious project to connect Pottsville to Philadelphia by trail that has taken the coordination of multiple towns, cities, and counties is still partly under construction awaiting to be finished. However, there are large portions complete in our area you can use today! A 30 mile section from Parkerford to Philadelphia is complete as well as a section from Pottstown to Reading. From Reading there is a 20 mile path along a road to Hamburg, where the trail turns scenic again for it's final 7 miles to Auburn. It is recognized as a National Recreation Trail by the U.S. Department of Interior’s National Trails System.
The trial follows the Schuylkill River and consists of beautiful views, multiple access points, parking lots, towns, restroom opportunities, parks, bike rentals, playgrounds, wildlife watching, history, and more. Click here to use an interactive map when planning your trip.
